Getting to Lesvos
The capital of the island, Mytilene, is the main arrival point.
Mytilene Airport (MJT) has regular flights to and from Athens and Thessaloniki and other islands throughout the year. During the summer season there are many international flights added.
In the port of Mytilene there are ferries from Piraeus (Athens), Thessaloniki, Kavala and Ayvalık. During the summer season there is also a ferry from Piraeus landing at the port of Sigri. All ferries transport cars.
From Mytilene
It is about a one and a half to two and a half hour drive.
By car. Several car rental agencies provide a car directly at the airport and the port.
By taxi. You can hire a taxi to Skala Eressou, and it is recommended to make a reservation. The grey taxis go all over the island; the yellow ones are local to Mytilene and can take you to the interisland bus station in town. There is an Eressos Ride-Share Group on Facebook you can join to possibly find someone to share a taxi with.
By bus. There is a regular bus from the airport into town. The interisland bus to Skala Eressou leaves, depending upon the season, one to three times a day, in the morning or at midday. You can find a schedule at KTEL.
From Sigri you will need to have a car or take a taxi. It is about a thirty minute ride.
